The joy of a good coffee

There's a heavily subsidised Starbucks at work where I buy a coffee most mornings. At best the coffee is pretty bad and sometimes it's terrible, even by English standards. This morning, though, I got a coffee on the way to work. It was smooth. It was creamy. It was sweet without the awfulness that is sugar in coffee. Oh, the bliss!

One, two, three, stop

One of our New Year's resolutions this year was to learn Samba dancing. We went along to two lessons and I shook my booty so hard I put my back out (nice work, me). Several months and rather a lot of osteopathy later, we've started Salsa lessons. Not only have I not (yet) put my back out, it actually feels a lot like dancing, unlike the couple of Samba classes we went to, which were much closer to line dancing (which, as everyone knows, is not real dancing). The music was good, the people were lovely, the teachers were funny. We'll definitely be going back.

Long weekend

This week has felt very long. We've been wandering, dazedly, grief-stricken through the week, devastated by the granny-shaped hole in our universe, and sad not to be with our family. This will be a weekend of therapeutic sleeping, tea drinking, cooking and general relaxation. The three days are much needed.
